Chief Joseph W. Pennisi  graduated from Panther Valley High School and the Reading Police Academy.  He joined the department in 1981 and was promoted to Sergeant in 1987.  He was then promoted to Chief of Police in 1989.  Chief Pennisi is a Pennsylvania Certified Fire Investigator and holds the position of Fire Marshal with the Diamond Fire Company of Walnutport.  He has also been trained in Accident Reconstruction and Commercial Vehicle Inspection.  Chief Pennisi is also the departments Accreditation Manager.  Through the years with the department, he has received four Police Commendations, the Mayor’s Award for dedication, professionalism and leadership skills, and was also awarded the prestigious Medal of Valor.  Chief Pennisi has also received a Certificate of Recognition from the Veterans of Foreign War for his volunteer services to the community and a rommendation from the Pennsylvania Attorney Generals Office for outstanding service as a member of the Northampton County Drug Task Force.

Sgt. Pete Wayda  attended Freedom High School and graduated from the Allentown Police Academy.  He joined the department in 1982 and was promoted to Sergeant in 1990.  He has received extensive training in firearms use and is certified as a Firearms Instructor by the National Rifle Association and is the departments Criminal Investigator.  Sgt. Wayda has also received training in Hostage Negotiations and Dignitary Protection Operations.  He is also a certified Glock Armorer and the departments Firearms Instructor.  He is a also a certified Physical Conflict Control Instructor, Patrol Rifle Instructor, Patrol Response to Active Shooters Instructor, and a Less Lethal Munitions Instructor.  Sgt. Wayda is one of the departments certified Field Training Officers.  During his time with the department, he has received three Police Commendations and a Commendation from the Pennsylvania Attorney Generals Office for outstanding service as a member of the Northampton County Drug Task Force.

Patrol Officer Jason Nothstein   graduated from Lehighton High School and the Lackawanna Junior College Police Academy.  He joined the department in 2000.  He is certified by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration as a Child Seat Technician.  He is one of the departments certified Field Training Officers.  He has been selected as a Top Gun in Driving Under The Influence of Alcohol arrests by a municipal officer for five years.  He has also received several Certificates of Appreciation from the Lehigh Valley Regional DUI Task Force for his work in DUI arrests.  Officer Nothstein is also an IPMBA certified Police Cyclist.  Officer Nothstein is also one of only a handful of municipal police officers certified as a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE).

Patrol Officer Scott Ledo  graduated from Palmerton High School and the Allentown Police Academy.  He joined the department in 2001.  He is certified as an instructor in firearms, patrol rifle, and shotgun.  Officer Ledo is also certified as a Glock Armorer.  During his time with the department he has received one Police Commendation and was awarded 2008 Top Gun in Driving Under The Influence of Alcohol arrests by a municipal officer.

Patrol Officer Richard Romig  graduated from the Allentown Police Academy.  He joined the department in 2007.  He has an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice Administration.

Patrol Officer Pete Swan  graduated from Mt. Olive High School in New Jersey and the Lackawanna Junior College Police Academy.  He joined the department in 2008.  He is certified by IPMBA as a Police Cyclist.
